If you are looking for valuable greyhound tips and picks then file this one away in your arsenal. To understand it you must first understand some basics of greyhound handicapping.

1. In almost every greyhound race there are at least 6 dogs that can win. Sometimes all 8 greyhounds on the track have a shot.

2. Speed in most races means just as much as the speed of your car when driving in the city. If you have a 12 cylinder Ferrari and The person next to you has a 4 cylinder Honda you will probably move through the city at about the same rate of speed. The difference will be who gets trapped behind slower cars, catches more lights and other factors not related to how fast the car is.

In greyhound racing the first turn is the great equalizer. If you don't survive the first turn you can't win. If you don't get to the turn near the front then your chances increase of not surviving.

When you evaluating the greyhounds in a race compare the break and 8th call of each greyhound in relation to the greyhounds on it's side. The greyhound to the inside of your greyhound will have the greatest impact unless the greyhound you are looking at likes to break wide (to the right instead of the left.)

You will see the public betting fast greyhounds down to favorites that have dogs on either side of them that will give them trouble getting clear. On the other had a slower dog that comes out faster than the dogs surrounding it will have a good chance of clearing the turn on the front.
